I know a few furs in Oz who make them, though the girl who
did mine has gone through a 'sudden career change' (she
just shut-up shop one day and said she wasn't doing art
stuff any more!). I'd have to ask around who is taking
commissions - I haven't looked at those other links posted
as yet.
My fox tail is about 50cm long and 15cm round; very fluffy
with belt loops (has three - means it follows hip movement
more realistically). I tend to wear it at furmeets along
with my vixen cap (fox head made over a baseball cap). It
has to be a vixen as it has no dangly bits. :-P The tail
can be fitted onto the hat for ease of storage or when you
need to sit down frequently (tails don't like being sat on
- fake or real).
I've lost one of my three real fox tails during the house
move and found one of the others crushed in a pile of
curtains (what was it doing there???). The new house tends
to be away from the paddocks and open grasslands, so don't
see as many roadkills to 'scavenge'. May as well make use
of what is available - though I don't wear them; they used
to hang in the garage and I would line the 4x4 antennas up
with them to make sure I was parked properly.
On a side issue; I wonder if they would need to make
allowances for tails in anthro worlds? A cut-out in the
side of the back, a softer bit of cushion to let it crush
into that instead? Lots of nerves and delicate bones in
those big appendages - can you imagine the hassle of having
a 'broken tail'?
Scrapper, Black Dragon, who has considered a fursuit (they
are good fun), but currently has more pressing uses for
time and finanace. :-/
