oh... well, too late now. I'm pre-registered and booked to go to the RBW (in London) in November now.
To be honest, I don't think I could have afforded a trip to America anyway. This one in London has Zen (Adam Wan) and FatKraken attending anyway... and the pack I bought gives an invite to a meal with the guests and boat party on the Saterday night... so I'm happy ^-^

You don't *have* to be pre-registered; you can register at the door
when the convention opens. It says so right on their FAQ page. :)

Pre-registering is just a convenience; most cons give a discount rate
for pre-reg, and have a separate badge-pickup queue for pre-reg'ed
attendees that usually moves faster than if you're registering at the door.
