i never really post to this forum. though i sure find alot of its messages in my email.  i havent posted since quite long ago it seems, but i feel personally its probably a good idea to post to this one.

speaking as one well experienced with the law, espescially along
the lines of "copyright" as you cited. i have experience as both an animation director,
and personal gain actor. my artwork and the characters within are most often legally copywritten with my lawyer and notary.

i am unsure if your post was meant to tell people that copying anothers work is ok,
or if it was the oposite, telling people it isnt.
but whatever "day and age" your refering to, in our current day and age,
infringement can infact constitute theft with or without monetary gain, under the laws
that my, and some other artists work are protected, within title 17, sections 501 and 506.

there has only ever been one case of someone comitting "art theft" on my work, in which case since the person doing so was not yet age 24, was not considered by federal law to be financially independant of their parent or guardian. thus causing this persons parents to pay the fine that was decided, after waving their right to a trial in court pending an fbi investigation.

never again after that, have i experienced what many people call "art theft".
there are many many furry artists who write "copyright foxboy" or something related, on their art peices, but they do not realize, that this does not mean their artwork is copywritten. it is not, and the federal bureau of investigation does not recognize that in a
court of law. and since 1978, they no longer recognize mailing a copy of your work
to yourself with a government recognized postal stamp on it, to keep safe and only open
in court when the creator of copys of that art come into question.

many people beleive the internet is free for all and the law does not exist here.
make no mistake, it does. and the internet is real life too.
i hope this information helped clear any confusion on that

I'd just like to point out that copyright infringement is never theft,
that is propaganda and brain washing conducted by large corporations
to justify their reprehnsible actions.

Copyright infingement is.. wait for it... copyright
infringement. .and.... it comes under copyright law! Not property law.

This is the day and age we live in, where people will copy, share,
modify, or adapt (stories, plays, music, art work, etc), which is more
true to media's beginnings.

The period of the last 60-70 years where everyone was used to there
being an iron grip of control on works is over, and we are returning
to the period just before that.
