Also dry up any ideas that is might create also. Folks we live in a
unique time, not just for artists but for us all. We have here a system,
that while full of potential for abuse and current abuse. Is also a medium
away from high price advertising agencies and other run of the mill machines
that say what is or what is not popular. Sadly for the artist's be they
drawing, written, spoken face a serious issue of having their work taken by
self-serving individuals who do feel that they do not have to pay for
something, or others not so self-serving but who have the mindset of now
that I have it. I don't have to pay for it. Sadly these two types of
individuals are bad for any one trying to 'make it' in the industry or even
as a hobby.
Sadly the current laws of copyright infringement are inadequate to this
new and modern age. In what seems to be rampant paranoia by the artist
themselves they almost have to go into seclusion to protect their works from
the hordes of online predators looking to ransack the artist's work and then
just give it away. Thus ending any sale of items. How then can artist's
protect themselves, their have been a number of suggestion's given, most of
which all cost money, sometimes more then what the artist makes. Which in
turn forces them to increase their cost, which then makes more people seek
cheaper alternatives to get their art.
It is sad when people need to take something in order to say that they
have it. It is said when a fan who wants to show their love of an art and
post it online, has to deal with the idea that it could be taken from them,
thus depriving the fan and even the artist in question of that enjoyment and
also profit. Where do we go from here? Do we start tarring and feathering
those we find who we find that are 'stealing' the artist work. Do we ignore
it? Do we report it? And how do we tell who is just showing off appreciation
for their artist work and who is trying to rob the artist? These are
questions that we must ask. As for stopping the stupidity once and for all,
sadly that may never happen as we are all Human.
