In my humble opinion, which is based solely on my own leisurely
mullings on the matter, one of the problems with the furry fandom as
a whole is that people in general are clinging to a vague notion that
there is such a thing as "typical" furry. This applies both to
furries and none furries.
There are people out there who are quite active in the fandom but
don't consider themselves furry simply because their view of the
fandom is to negative for them to want to associate with it. And then
there are furries who expect other furries to fit some kind of form,
all too frequently based upon themselves, and when they don't accuse
them of not being "furry enough".
The fact remains that all furryfans have but one thing in common and
that is some sort of interest in anthropomorphic animals. That's it.
At least that's what I mean when I say that I am a furry. To expect
or demand anything else is pointless. I mean, what more can you tell
about me from the fact that I'm a furry?
I do think however that the fandom is indeed beginning to settle in
as just another fandom or hobby group. Rumors and drama surrounds all
groups, but the in the furry fandom it is now seemingly beginning to
settling down to "normal" levels. We're not fully "integrated in
society" yet, but we're moving in the right direction.
Wow, this is my biggest rant to date. Thank you for your patience.
I'll try not to do it again. ;)
Yours humbly
Warhound
