There are legal ways of doing it, they all focus around having the purchase
being "a collection of art by X, which includes parody work" and not "a
collection of parody work, by X." IOW, the selling point has to be the
artist, also there are some sources that are OK either due to nationality[1]
or because the trademarks have lapsed[2].
[1] Japan is the big one here, as Japanese trademarks do not cover things like
characters.
[2] Time-Warner oopsed away a bunch of theirs from their early 90s shows,
including most of the Tiny Toons.
