If you are refering to my earlier post about pitfalls of fanfics,
then you might I have misunderstood. I have no problem with someone
carefully writing themselves in. I dislike reading about 'super'
characters that are near perfect and do everything right.

Maybe an exsample is in order. In many DnD(Dungeons&Dragons)games,
first-time DM's fall into this catagory. The introduce a NPC that is
thier persona expanded to near epic proportions (LVL 15+). And then
leads/babysits the players(Lvl 1-5) through the campain killing all
the mosters, solving all the problems, doing all the talking. The
players just become a "captive" audience. This doesn't mean you can't
put in your character as DM (I do this.), but he only appears once in
a while, giving the players a clue hear a job there. He doesn't do
the quest for them.

Author Ex's inserted character is far from perfect. His attitude and
mannerisms blend in nicely with the surrowing personalities. By
contrast my Avatar is of a more of a dark magical guide and thus
wouldn't fit well in Master Hardiman's corner of the Universe. Alex;
however, is another matter. I can tell Alex is the main center point
of the fanfics, but If I didn't know any better I would think that
Alex was just one more of Master Hardiman's characters.

This is already getting to be a long post, so I'll leave the other
pitfalls and critiques for another time.
