For those who care: Avast is very friendly and good for users (eg parents) who may be 'frightened' of error messages; nice and simple to use and configure. Its scanning and detection is not as good as AVG from the latest comparisions I have read. AVG has a 'sponsored' mode where if you do buy one of the other products, you are entitled to a registered version of AVG. Or you can use the free mode or just pay for it, same with Avast.
And since this is not a tech forum and decidedly off-topic, can we please take it off-group (ie, email each other directly - their address is in their message post).
Scrapper, Black Dragon, currently nothing nice to say about Microsoft since recent experience with integrating Windows 2008 servers.

That doesn't really help... the AVG site just redirects to one of those idiotic sites that you have to accept an offer in order to even I really like Avast AV.
