Hi all, First off I would like to say thanks to des for the fun stuff over time, some of my fav. actually, and I'm sad that you want to leave. I don't know what to say really, I almost never post because I don't have much experience with other furs. I've been a furry for over fifteen years, and have never had the money to go to a con, never gotten to have fun with anyone else like me. I have always felt like an outcast, Thanks Central States, I have never even met another fur in rl. Now it's beginning to look like I never will.
I'm sorry people hound artists, I DON'T, and I never will. Now it seems like more and more older furs are leaving the fandom because newer ones are comming in, yes there are a lot more freaky furs now, some just finally felt safe enough to come out, some are younger and are just growing up. Everyone likes different stuff, and it's super hard on furs. Furs have no other outlet other than art, there are no furry brothels, no animated furry porn vids. Many furs especially younger furs just get excited and go wild. But as for posting without permission or flaming an artist for asking you to remove posts, shame on those people, they aren't furs at all. They're asses.
I know the old b/w days were fun when everything was fresh, but todays kind of fun too, I'm glad that so many artists are willing to try new stuff. Anyway to let you know how strongly I feel, this is maybe my third post in ten years. Sorry it was so long but please don't give up everyone.
Thanks :3

I got a real chuckle out of this folio as well. It's nice to know some folks out there feel the same way I do about the fandom anymore. It's been tainted, and has become a default place for the dregs of society to hang out and feel special. I like to call them Sailor-Moon Virgins. They live in their parents basement, blog all day, never shave, eat junk food and watch anime while doing/watching unspeakable things in the name of Furrydom. And they demand special attention because they're odd and the 'discriminates against them'. it's not so much about furry anymore as it is about the fetishes. Weird-assed fetishes too, like snuff and ummm, balloons. *shudder* Does anyone remember when it was just clean art, plain old adult artwork, a little bondage and some lycanthropy? I still search on VCL every day hoping to find a gem of something good or original, but it's mostly just garbage.
It's been a long time now since I've had very much to do with furry other than checking out the few remaining good artists out there and just lurking. It's been five years since I went to any kind of a local meet (where all they were interested in doing was playing DDR and watching yaoi anime. Hurray for predictable butt-piracy. ) the only cool furries I liked seemed to have done the same as I have, fallen off the radar and not really associated with the rest anymore. I miss just sitting around and talking about old cartoons and why we liked them. Or doing something normal, like a walk in the woods or paintball or something. Instead of sitting around and sharing some rather disturbing sketchbooks or offering use of their dog. (yeah, I never went back there again. And why do the creepier ones never brush their teeth?) Perhaps everyone I cared to associate with did the same as I did; grew up some more, got married, had a family and a regular job. Moved on.
they've all gone somewhere. We're certainly the minority now.
Okay, this became a long-assed rant that ran out of steam. It's been a while since I came forward and said anything worth saying. Are there any other gray muzzles (meaning someone who's been kicking around the fandom since 1994 or earlier) out there who feel this way? Anyone out there who is a fairly conservative furry, where Jim's work might have been the most extreme stuff we cared to look at? And we watched the weirdness creep in slowly until we were knee deep in it. We almost left but we keep peeking in hoping to see something worthwhile in there again?
Sorry to hear Des is going to withdraw too. I hope I can catch a peep now and then about her art and where it might be lurking.
In the meantime, do a Survival one about Emo?

I went to one furry convention years ago due to the persistent nagging of a furry artist friend of mine, and found a flood of all the people she's ranting about. I never went to another one. I love furry/anthro art but I find the people who associate with it fucking creepy. It sucks that Des decided to stop drawing her kick ass style of parody art, but its understandable given the way she seems to feel.
