  The original sketch was drawn on 8.5 X 11 inch paper. The final version will likely be on 11 X 14 inch paper. Most pictures start off as thumbnail sketches, usually around 2 inches square. Then a rough draft is made on larger paper, and that rough is often cleaned up and outlined. A colored version is then done on fresh paper.
