Hey all-
I just posted a sample page from Caterwaul in the "Files" section. It's not a legit page, since it was drawn much smaller than the actual pages I'll be drawing for the comic. This is why it looks a little rough in a few spots. Damn eyes aren't what they used to be. Well, one, anyway. ;)
This page was done entirely in greys, though the scanner interpreted the warmer grey tones as pink or red. Which is okay, I guess, since that's kinda what they were representing anyway.
This page is from a little snippet of the fourth Caterwaul story, and it shows Penance getting ready to eviscerate some guy who made the mistake of letting his hormones speak for him instead of his brain. I thought I'd post this, since there was recently a discussion about that character, and it would also allow me to show what a page from that comic will look like. The greyscale technique is similar to what I do for my mainstream artwork.
Anyway, hope you like! This method is actually fairly quick; the entire page, from rough sketch to final version, only took one night to do. Wanna see what the old comics looked like? Check out any of the Skunkworks comics. They were all drawn with black linework, crosshatching, and lots of white space. I just figured I needed to put out something a little more "intense". Enjoy!
