Yes, a good handful is a wonderful thing, but like I've often said, I've got big hands. :-) Like the joke in By The Tail with Ocher saying to Ivory "You know what they say about guys with big feet?" (They wear big shoes?) And as per Snopes and other locations, it turns out there isn't really a relationship in that regard.
It is an interesting relationship of scale - the 'average woman' has the correct size breast (C cup) to suit the average man's hand. Women's hands are often smaller than men's, so a fantastic illusion is when women handle their own breasts, since the smaller hand makes the available breast appear so much more.
A little bit like your arm span from fingertip to fingertip is almost exactly your height. Form a tight fist - that is approximately the size of your heart. Two fists with palms towards each other (bit like playing volley ball), approximate size of your brain (but no reflection on ability). Another fun one - make a gun shape with your hand, thumb pointing straight upwards with two fingers pointing forwards (double barrel). Your equipment is approximately the length from fingertip to thumbtip and about the width at the base as across the base of the two 'barrel' fingers.
Now before you get all excited or proclaim "no it is not!!!!", a little bit of how this works. Normal people (normal also being the mathematical term for average, that is the middling value within a sample) have similar measurements; this is a well documented fact. So if you know a given part of your body is a certain size, you can experiment with other parts of the body until you find a suitable comparable reference. We actually teach that in airbrushing for finding distances for spraying heights. You learn how far to hold an airbrush from the paper by referring to your own hand. That way when the teacher says "spray at 5cm (2") above the page", everyone has their own reference to get the same result. For me, it is three knuckles from the page; for one of the 5'0" girls of petite build, it was four knuckles plus her thumb!
