Yeah, I saw that journal earlier on FA. Saddening that something like this would happen. Not sure how much good a prayer from me would do, as I'm agnostic.
But on that lines, before this came up Shawntae and I were talking on FA about how it's sad that so many people are intolerant of each other because of things like religion, race, sex, or even things as simple as interests. We're all free to believe in whatever, like what we do, and be who we are. As long as no one's harmed in the process, then what's the harm in that type of person existing?
Anyway, that's just a discussion Shawntae and I have been having, trading opinions and ideas. Still wish his family the best of luck.

Subject: [SkunkworksAMA] Who's that tap-tap-tapping upon my chamber door?
Given my luck, and the part of the country I live in, it's probably some bible
thumper trying to find new recruits. But no worries! A black and red cape, a
goat skull atop your head, and a large ceremonial knife can encourage these
individuals to look elsewhere! You can even say the "magic phrase":
"Look, lady, I'm kinda in the middle of something important right now. Could
you come back in...wait a minute...Saaaay, you wouldn't happen to be a virgin,
wouldja?"
But onto serious things now. First up: Shawntae Howard (the artist of the
Extinctioners comic) recently made a post on his FA journal requesting prayers
for his grandma, who has gone through multiple surgeries and has had a lot of
complications in the process. Now, I'm not the kind of person to believe in a
god, but I do know positive thoughts and "prayers" do help in situations like
this. So if you can, offer some kind words of support and say a prayer for his
grandma to pull through this. Thanks.
Much less important, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway: The entire
"Spoofworks" folio is now complete, and hopefully will be available from Second
Ed before long. It's an eight-pager, and it's in full color and printed on
white paper, so all you folks who cried about the anti-copy paper can dry your
tears. ;P
Also, I've begun scanning in what will amount to over 500 pictures for a CD
collection of all my stuff from 1995-2008. I don't know if Ed will wait until I
can get all 3 CD's finished, or if he will want to just order one at a time as I
complete them. Here's the rundown thus far:
VOLUME 1: Features the following folios...
Skunkworks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Cutting Floor, Skunkworks Animated, Natasha,
Onyx, and Lori. Also included is rare or never-before-seen artwork, sketches,
and the like. "Spoofworks" is NOT included in this collection.
VOLUME 2: Features the following folios...
Bigger Than Life 1 and 2, Antics 1 through 4 (includes More Antics, Strapped
In and Hot Pussy), Mixed Breeds, Hardcore 1 and 2, Caterwaul Character Folio,
95% Fur-Free, Better Mousetrap, Before I Knew What The Hell I Was Doing Volumes
1 through 4, and numerous other unpunlished pictures and sketches. I might see
about putting the "Survival of the Fittest" folio in there too, if Des is okay
with that.
VOLUME 3: Features the following works...
All Limited Edition prints (000 Series), all 100 Series prints, all 500 series
prints, all 900 series prints, discontinued prints, miscellaneous artwork and
sketches, and numerous commissions.
I'm waiting to hear back from Ed on the CD bit, mostly concerning the pricing,
and the possibility of offering all 3 at a reduced rate (which would require me
to get all 3 of them finished before releasing them). I'll post more details
here as this progresses.
I've been trying to work on the rough drafts for the new "Caterwaul" book
in-between my regular work. I hope to have the entire thing drawn out and ready
to enter the final artwork version sometime in November. More details to follow
as work gets completed.
Other than that, it's the same ol' same ol'. "By The Tail" will be updated
shortly; I'm going to wait a little longer until Hallowe'en draws nearer, since
some artwork and the comic are all Hallowe'en-related.
So stay cool (won't be too difficult this winter, I'm sure!), and remember to
send your thoughts and prayers to Shawntae. Thanks, guys and girls!
