Going with CDs (and about 150 images) also makes for a better price point
than putting (say) 450 images into 1 DVD. What do you think would sell
better? 3 CDs, released a few months apart from each other, for $20 each, or
1 DVD for $60? They would all have exactly the same information on them,
and come up to the same price per image, but the CD "seems" like a better
buy because it's cheaper. In the current economy, I would have to think long
and hard about putting out over $50 for an art collection, but $20 (or
$25) a pop is an easy buy. It's not like he'll be losing any sales on
portfolios or prints by releasing CDs, scans have been out on the internet within
weeks of portfolios being released anyway, at least with these digital
versions he'll finally be getting some return on officially released scans.

I have to agree with xdata666. I'd rather have a dvd, rather than three
cds, but this sounds like a good deal any way you decide to do it. I love the
idea of including background, too.
