This would depend on how the furrys came about. If they were created in a lab then their ability to understand English* would be automatic. The people who created them would want them to be able to understand commands. Also, if they were created in a lab, why could they not use a keyboard? They have roughly human hands. Now I can see problems with things like a blackberry, or an iPhone, but a regular full sized keyboard... I don't see the problem.

Now if Furrys came from outer space, then they would either have to learn our language or we would have to learn theirs... depending if they came as refugees or invaders.
