First off, I'd rather take a dose of .45 caliber aspiring than to do what would be necessary to get her attention!
There are several instances in the story where she affects electronic equipment, especially cameras. Such devices will only "see" her if she allows it; other times, the camera may show scenes which never actually happened. Let's face it, what is a digital recording but electronic data?
There aren't any scenes in the story (that I can recall right now) in which she pursues someone aggressively. For the most part, she plays the part of the "bait". She knows ahead of time which person is going to be her target. If the target takes the bait, there's still time for him/her to not become a statistic. But once they actually "commit the act", they've pretty much damned themselves, and it's at that point Penance turns the tables on them.
There is one scene in the story in which she kills a known predator, and does so during the day in a public park. The guy is screaming for help, but other folks neither hear nor see him. However, the other people unknowingly avoid the area where he's being torn apart, without realizing they are doing so. She employs this same tactic when dispatching a guy in his own home.
In that scene, the guy stabs her in the spine, taking her totally by surprise. She cannot change her physical form, but she does still possess many of her abilities, including the ability to hurl that guy across the room and keep him pinned to the wall without even raising a finger. Despite several gunshots going off later in that scene, none of the neighbors ever heard a thing. She's got all kinds of nifty tricks, many of which have been noted in various real-life paranormal activities. Sort of like a poltergeist, only with a physical form.
If she goes after someone, trust me, they aren't going to escape and ride off into the sunset. That particular story may end up running more than the usual "3 issues per story" length, due to the complexity and scope of the story, as well as all the supernatural shit I'm going to have to figure out how to portray. It definitely will not be considered a light-hearted and fun story, given the topic and nature of the beast.
