Sorry Jim, the thought of some of the larger predators yelling out with thick Bronx accents cracks me the hell up! That and anything with large claws (i.e; said wolverines, bears, large felines) talking with extreme hand gestures...well, while funny, it could also be rather messy! :)
There is no such thing as a dream that you cannot obtain.
You may have to work for it, however.

As far as the predator/prey aspect, it's generally just not a good idea to engage in rough behavior with more powerful breeds (bears, wolverines, badgers, bats, large feline breeds, crocs and/or alligators, and large birds of prey). Dissimilar breeds can get along fine, just as with some human beings, but there is often an underlying element of dislike for certain species that have a bad (even if undeserved) reputation.
I would imagine different species would have originated in different parts of the world, based upon their environments (just as humans have developed different "races" from different areas). Ultimately, though, any species could be any culture. Kangaroos are not necessarily Australian, Pandas are not necessarily Asian, Bats are not necessarily Brazilian or European. The culture of any particular area can be spread throughout a plethora of different species (sort of like the way New Yorkers tend to act like, well, New Yorkers, regardless of their skin color or ancestral heritage).

That could be interesting, especially if there was a certain level of respect for sentient species early on. What about some of the heinous problems that our world suffers, such as bigotry? Did species develope in specific regions?
