Hate to say it Jim, but your other machine sounds like it caught a virus that was running rampant about 10 years ago. I can't think of many hardware problems that would cause that. If you can, try to boot off of a CD or DVD like your Windows install disk. If it boots and remains stable, that hard drive is probably hosed. Your shop may be able to recover without losing your files, but I won't bet on it.
