The character's owner wanted to cash in her chips, so I said I had an idea on how to do that. If you're gonna go out, go out with a bang!
As for the whole good/bad dialogue...sadly, in most cases, what one views as good or bad is often defined by their environment and upbringing. In Penance's case, she's being punished because she did something we might consider "good" (letting a familiar die of old age rather than drain the life out of him). After getting stuck in the bear body, her only concern was getting enough energy to continue living without taxing herself. It wasn't until a particular event occurred that she realized her prey had to be actively hunted down, rather than passively.
