Regarding Penance, she is (by her very nature) a predator who requires energy from other living beings and sex is the best way to get it for a succubus. She has a lot of power and abilities at her disposal, and can go about her business without ever being seen or remembered (if she so chooses). She's obviously less than ecstatic about being stuck in the form of some kid who died 20-plus years earlier, but she eventually finds a way to use that to her advantage (and, perhaps, finds a new job for herself as well).
As part of her punishment, anyone she has sexual relations with, whether trying to seduce an individual or playing the part of the "victim", will end up dead. More often than not, they will be brutally slain (though that is not always shown in the comics); other times they may be left as a dead body with seemingly no cause for death (she just sucked all the life out of them).
She kills her partners, there's absolutely no way around that. There will never be a part of her story where she gets chummy with a fellow and they become best friends and she moves into his dorm and yada yada yada. Yeah, she WANTS to go back to her native reality, but she realizes she's stuck in the Caterwaul world, and decides to do some good deeds while staying alive and plotting her revenge on the individual(s) who decided to imprison her in the bear's body. The "good deeds", by the way, piss off her "superiors" to no end.)
I can understand the attraction (and I'm hoping like hell you're referring to the sexy demon version and not the other three forms), but she's definitely someone you would want to keep your distance from. Just not worth the risk or the inevitable and likely painful death.
