In the Chicago area, there are expressways named for Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, and (recently) Reagan, as well as two for local politicians such as Dan Ryan and Stevenson. The central public library in Chicago is named after Harold Washington while Loyola Hospital has a Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center. How did said structures get named after these people? Presumably a matter of politics.
