I'm guessing you mean 'pregnant'; that raises the question of although humans are extinct in the Caterwaul Universe, whether species can interbreed, or whether it is unlikely or purely random if there is enough compatibility. If it is anything like our universe, the definition of a species is whether it can breed with another of the species - if it can't then they are not the same species... And since the creatures are fairly diverse, even if physically compatible, I'm suspecting 'half breeds' may be very much the exception as opposed to the rule.
As for the By The Tail world, I recall Jim opting to delete humans from the world due to too many 'touchy areas' that could be deemed untasteful, so we could speculate that it is a 'free and fun world', where no one catches anything undesired and accidents don't happen. And I'm completely guessing... :-p
