Well, that is the entire point of an escapist fantasy, is it not? Why bother going through all the mental effort to dream up fantastic worlds just to imagine striking out there as much as here? Perhaps being an alien visitor would be exotic enough or perhaps their mental hardwiring would be such that they find socially awkward nerds, or whatever the dreamer is, irresistible.
Or perhaps the trip to the new realm includes upgrades. All this talk of food chains and the like makes this camper think that a full cyborg body might not be a bad idea.
