Actually, the letter X in Greek doesn't represent Christ. It represents the
letter Chi, which, oddly, is the first letter of Christ, in Greek. Usually,
it's combined with Rho, but how many keyboards have you seen that have the
ability to print a chi and a rho together? The Greeks used Chi long before
Christ, in all sorts of words. Some of them were probably scatological or
erotic.

The Greeks would have been surprised by the idea that their letter Chi
represented Christ, since they borrowed it from the Phoenicians, who used it
some 1200 years before Christ's birth, and also used it to represent the 'C'
sound.

Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays, and
Season Greetings to SkunkworksAMA!

(Letter X in Greek represented the word christ. Now who
else knew that...)
