Other than birthdays, do they have any other gift-giving celebrations? How will the shops having rampant consumerism without a Christmas equivalent???

I believe the Australian Christmas is about getting together with friends and family and having a meal. So if you do that over the Christmas period, I feel I can wish you a Merry Christmas. Though I believe JMH doesn't alway even do that... Bah humbug! ;-)

In our world in ancient times there WAS a day for honoring the goddess Bastet (Bast). Egyptian women would make calls like cats to men on that holy day. Unfortunately what went on the her temples during those festivals was pretty much erased from history first by a sun-worshiping pharaoh. That guy tried to do away with religious practices for all of the other gods. Then the Catholic church burned and defaced what was left.
However it IS known that sexual practices were part of religious ceremonies in the temples of the gods; especially the ones (like Bastet) who were gods of harvest and procreation.
If the skunk girl's world isn't mostly mono-theistic then maybe the Egyptian gods are still worshiped in the old ways but in modern buildings. It might be worth going to church on special days to watch the high priestess get banged. Maybe there is a religiously recognized coming-of-age ceremony for girls in some religions. :)
Give me that old time religion. :) It would be very hard to keep horny teenagers from spending too much time IN church. :)
