Personal opinion, it's not that hard to run a forum on your private site, and likely less troublesome considering what's happened here at Yahoo! in the past. Depending on the system you use (like Wordpress), it's possible to select somebody to administer that part of the site exclusively in the way BlackDragon currently administers the Yahoo board for you. The advantage is that you have better control of the viewers and the content of the forum while offering more open discussion without worrying as much about site capacity (of course, you can also configure a self-cleaning phase where content older than, say five years, is moved to an archive where it can be moved to a private hard drive and deleted from the site itself.)
Even when my own site was up (and hopefully will be again around the end of the summer) I maintained a forum, though admittedly had very little activity due to lack of exposure. In general such forums are easier to maintain and require less direct oversight of file capacity for a long, long time.

Since space on the group is not limitless, what are your thoughts about cleaning everything out (including old messages) when the site is up and operational? A direct link could be posted to this address from the site itself, so members would be able to converse as necessary.
