Completely off topic - but speaking of black widows:

One time some friends and I were doing some urban exploring and crawling
around some of the old drainage tunnels, checking out the old graffiti and
just generally being nosy. We're about 3/4 of the way through (or so we
estimate) when we come upon a black widow just chilling in one of the
corners. Now this tunnel is maybe 5ft by 5ft, and while none of us are
renowned for being geniuses, none of us are so stupid as to go out of our
way to pester a black widow, so we duck past it and go on our way. Just a
few feet farther and there's webs stretching from wall to wall with no less
then THREE MORE hanging right in the middle of the tunnel. After some
quick (very quick) deliberation, we decided to abandon the journey forward
and made a hasty retreat back, only to find that the one behind us had now
descended just low enough as to block the path. It's like they had laid a
trap for us.
I myself am not arachnophobic, but there are few things in the world as
ugly as a black widow, and while I don't squeal and run when I see one, I
nevertheless didn't like the idea of being surrounded in a 5ft by 5ft
tunnel by very ugly, VERY venomous spiders.
Eventually, we coaxed it back into the corner of the tunnel and squeezed
through. Having broke the trap, we haven't gone back since.

Just thought I'd share that little adventure. ^.=.^
