Jim, I can vouche for battery drain around paranormal occurances. I was
taking pictures at an old cabin several years ago in Kings Canyon National
Park off the trail behind the General Grant tree. I was getting a lot of
photographic anomalies like fog and orbs(lots of them) inside the cabin when
no dust or fog was visible to the naked eye. It was too warm for fog to
naturally occur. I verbally acknowledged the presence to others and
something passed through me like breeze a chilling me instantly within. My
digital camera batteries, which were near full charge before, were nearly
drained after whatever it was that passed me. Clearly whatever it was drew
energy from the environment including myself and my batteries.
