I agree with having 'plain old fantasy' but it is hard to think how they, in their universe, would see nonexistent (extinct) humans even if they looked like the geico caveman of like us as we are now.

I for one don't have a problem with seeing any of the Skunkworks or Caterwal folks with humans, even in a noncanonical way.  You can draw whatever you like, whether it fits in with the established canon or not. 
There has to be a place for just plain old "fantasy" in there somewhere.
