  Not really, people will just ignore it if it gets in the way.

  He's also hardly the first artist to go "I don't want to work with these
  characters any more so I'll kill them off." Historically it hasn't been too
  effective, certainly no more than simply saying "I've done all I want to with
  them," and moving on to other things.
