The grey mouse was the character representation of Charlene, who died in 2006 from cancer. The brown mouse was a character representation of Lynne (I think it's spelled with an "e"), who died in 2008 from a drug overdose. As far as I know, Charlene was bisexual, but Lynne was primarily lesbian. Another woman, named Julie (I think), lived with the two women for awhile and helped care for Charlene. After Charlene died, Lynne did some...questionable things, and eventually ended up O.D.ing. Their house was eventually sold and torn down (it was old), and I have no idea where Julie is today. If I recall correctly, I think Julie was drawn as a badger or something.

Yes, the people behind those characters were very real (I have seen numerous photos and spoken to them on the phone before). But they preferred to keep their RL information off the internet, which is probably why there was so much speculation about them.
