The email update thing I can handle as the interface for commonly used functions is better.
I can see what they are trying to do with the groups thing, but it seems to have buried some of the functions I used to use for moderation. They'll probably change it again soon anyway.
Replaced their standard image on my system with a small JPG that just says "Yahoo Groups" - resolution of the pic is so low it has gone grainy, but saves my bandwidth loading it back up each time! Don't need some big image of rubbish I'm not interested about. I also use a DNS Hosts file blocker - it is just a hosts file that lists all advertisement and many malware sites - if your system tries to connect to them by name, it gets directed back to your local system, where it subsequently can't find the file. This then gives me little grey boxes where advertisements should be, saving bandwidth and thought processes from being polluted with advertising.
