Well, that's something that only time will tell. "Art is eternal", so
they say, so Jim's art will always be out there long after we're gone,
preserved on some online site, physical copies of comics and portfolios stored in
boxes, etc. What will be interesting to see is what happens to the
characters. If (as has just been posted to the group), Desiree Lee was just
another pseudonym for Jim, there isn't anyone else with a co-copyright status on
the characters, so they'll probably just vanish to history. With the
stigmata of "adult furry art", it's doubtful that any family members of Jim's
will have any interest in seeing any of his artwork or stories kept in
print, or continue with his plans of new stories with the characters. Maybe he
made his wishes known to his family if he started feeling worse and worse,
but it's just as likely that they only knew he drew "comic books", not the
specific subject matter, and will get a surprise education when they go
through his papers. Answers to questions like this is one very good reason to
keep this group open, so that those who have (however tenuous) a
connection with Jim's family have a place to let fans of his work know what will be
taking place as time goes on.
