New update from Angry Viking Press on Jim's art:
Posted by Jason Canty
Hello Everyone,
Its been over a month since the last update, and about a month and a half
since Jims passing. For those of you who where his fans, I want to thank
you all for your kind words here, and on various sites with about Jim.
Over the past month I have shown his mother your comments and it warmed her
heart that her son entertained so many people. While she was quite active
in supporting him, and often going to conventions with him at his start,
she still finds it surprising that he was this popular with so many
people. So from her she sends her thanks as it has helped her through this
time.
Jim's mom will be helping me compile all his works in to the collected
Skunkworks as he intended for this kickstater and the fans. I will be
traveling down sometime in late November to visit and get everything
together and looking to produce the books and pillows as soon as possible
some time after. While the Penance and Caterwaul comics weren't part of
the kickstater, but planed to be published on their own after, his mother
and brother will look to see about finishing his script for those stories
and pushing them through Angry Viking Press.
When it comes to the commissions, I have found that at least 3 of you did
receive your works before he passed, and he may have had a few more in
various states of completion. This is where I will be helping his family
sift through and try to match up what of his last works belong to which
commissioners. For those he wasn't able to get to, he and his mother feel
you still get something. As for the rest of his works. Jim wished it to be
ether auctioned off or burned, as understandably he couldn't take it with
him and didn't wish for it to take up space in his mothers home. I will
be helping his mother set up auctions for all his remaining originals and
high quality reproductions to help pay for bills, and repay those
commissioners whose work wasn't completed.
Jim wasn't always fan of the digital, and felt more comfortable having his
work on the books and the bed sheets hand inked rather than digitally, but
we will have the reaming works produced to our best ability.
It was my wish to help Jim not only get the completed Skunkworks out and
work on his two other series, but we often talked about Animated shorts,
figures/mini figures, and Skunkworks book ends and statues. Its a shame we
won't be able to work on these together now.
As for other things we've been asked to cameo in the background of an
upcoming movie. In fact it was around March I received the news. While Jims
book wasn't ready in time to make it into the cameo, Some of his art will
be in the background with us, as well as the new books just back from the
printer, Dragonlast from Satanasov, and Misty The Mouse vol#1 from Dutch!
The Digital copies will be avalible tonight to those that orderd them while
the Print copies will be going out soon.
