There are four problems with electric cars: Motor power (SOLVED), energy
storage (mostly solved), infrastructure (barely even started solving), and
public perception (changing now). The first electrics were wonders of their
day, and nobody really drove more than ten miles a day anyway, they mostly
took the train. They didn't have lots of power, but now they do. They
didn't USED to have any real range, but now you can get 60+ miles out of a
single charge, with some vehicles boasting of ~100 miles per charge. The
people who try them out miss having engine noise, but otherwise tend to
really get attached. The problem is mostly one of infrastructure. If we had
charging stations every few miles in every city, just like we have gas
stations EVERYWHERE, there'd be no problem at all.

So don't give me that old BS about "It'll never work." If we'd build for
it, it would. All you have to do is convince someone they'll make a profit
or otherwise benefit sufficiently.
