Half the problem is that By The Tail (BTT) was largely a re-design of JMH's original childhood idea of an anthro world. Since many of his original concepts could be construed the wrong way, most of the "original idea" artworks and stories never came to light, so if they exist, most of us never saw them.
With the re-released, updated version of BTT that we have seen and read, most was posted here at some stage and was being hosted on the web site, except when JMH passed, the holding web site has taken over, so the 'hidden links' are now all broken. Jim liked bats and cats, but depends on what story arc was enticing him at the time, what was drawn and subsequently shown to us. The characters you mentioned did not feature in many cartoon strips, so information is probably going to be limited. In regard to collecting what was released, either someone here may have it stashed (I seem to have lost my collections through various computer changes and subsequent misplaced backups).
Someone from this group showed me Wayback Machine aeons ago - this is probably a really good place to start.
