In general, I just use the term "person" - and why not
use it? "Person," "people," and such terms aren't
species specific. Heck, I often find myself using the
terms "man" and "woman" - it's a heck of a lot easier
than trying to explain to the nice lady in the
Rottweiler suit why you just used the term "bitch" to
refer to her! And MUCH easier than trying to explain
it to her boyfriend in the lion costume, with real
working claws and big muscles!
