Well, the Drill Instructors have to be hard-asses, in order to do their job.
They are supposed to break a recruit down and build them back up. They can
NOT be soft on the recruits, otherwise, those recruits are going to be
killed in their first firefight. simple as that. Off-duty, most are decent,
laid back, easy to get along with. But on the job, they are steel.

I can understand that, but there is of course a difference in doing
your job and the job doing *you*. I suspect that you started to
get "Hardcore Authority Syndrome" for a while, it usually strikes
young security guards and policemen (and of course others in
authority). Untreated, it can turn the most benign, harmless person
into a real hardass. Look at it this way, at least you're not a Drill
Sergeant :P
