Hey folks -
I have been feeling the need to post this, but haven't done so because I
am not sure how well it would be received.
As with any event that one feels it is the right thing to do to donate
money to, we always have to look out for Scheisters. Those folks who would
profiteer off the misfortunes of others.
I'm not pointing fingers at all, but rather telling to you err on the
side of caution when giving out your money. It would not surprise me if
some of these funds that are earmarked for Jim do not reach him. That's
how we, as humans, work sometimes. It's a sad reality.
Take into account the Sept. 11 disaster, and the various "charities" that
sprung up at that time. They are still prosecuting people for fraud to this
very day because the funds never reached the victims. That's not counting
the "charities" that we don't know about. :\
So, please be careful if you decide to submit funds to a third party.
As an aside, I am the person who runs Jim's website, and a longtime friend
of his. (Jim will verify this for you if you ask.) I have a paypal account
set up that I was using for EBay purposes.
I'd be willing to accept donations to my account, and I will make sure
that they get to Jim, if you'd rather paypal your funds to a third party.
(Paypal takes out a small (2-3%) amount because I have my account set up
to accept credit cards. Keep that in mind.)
Please use siberskunk_at_skunked.com as the address. And please include some
sort of note telling me what they money is for. :) I do alot of ebay
auctioning these days, and would appreciate a bit of warning. :)
Thank you, and take care.
