You guys seem to have it a little backwards there.
In word or notepad or whatever, if you don't have the 'save as html' option go to file, then save as, put in the name of what you want it to be and end that with .html Then go to the 'type' of file and tell it 'all files' or simply 'text files'.

When you save it it should look just fine. Though you may want to put in proper html/head/title/body tags in there to make it look better.
