What you describe is saving a text file with a .HTML
extension. This loses the formatting of paragraphs,
fonts and layout (saving a small bit of space), but
takes the eye pleasing effect of having nice fonts,
special symbols. If these were not deemed important,
all the commercial word processors probably wouldn't
bother with featuring them so prominently...
It can also come out as one long line per paragraph,
defeating the purpose of using a writing application
that deals with word wrap. Tried it a few minutes ago
and the result wasn't too pleasing. If it is written
in something (like Notepad) where you have pushed
Enter at the end of each line, then you may as well
leave it in .TXT format.
This means those running in different screen res
either have to scroll to read your lines, or you have
to write in short (640x480 screen size) lines to
ensure no one has hassles. One of the advantages of
properly formatted HTML.
In short, text works and is small and readable by all
browsers, but the most portable for best looking and
easiest to read for size etc, HTML is the go.
Scrapper, Black Dragon, who is STILL wishing for
standardised, efficient, standards...
