Currently, most parts for AR-15s are being made by FN in Belgium. However,
yes, there are companis that make parts far more rugged than Colt's.

There were rumors that stated Colt built '16 parts and materials aren't as
good as some of the other aftermarket '16 parts and this comes from a gun
dealer who sells the rifles.
