Just chucking all my replies into one long post for sending to several
relevant groups as well as SkunkworksAMA seeing imo it'd nicely sum up most
points and issues that have been raised/covered about the place...

> There are three reasons why yahoo closes groups.

The most plausible reasons that is - assuming that they're actually being

rational in the first place. You can't underestimate human stupidity
really... ;P

4) too much file traffic within a group. Presumably those that keep on going
over the group/message archive limits with posting/viewing, this being aimed
more at the warez groups out there and the like that deal with high file
transfer turnovers.

This quoted from one of the automated responses from yahoo someone posted
earlier, shows that underage members aren't possible. Though if someone
lists their age publicly as being under 18, either from being stupid or just
forgetting to update it after a birthday, it's still possible for someone
who doesn't know that to complain and probably get taken the wrong way...

Some furs have, only to most commonly get no reply, some standardised
automated response or stuck in a loop with the telephone system. The one or
two that seem to have gotten through, or managed to get info from people
they know who work there, have mentioned saying either something like of the
above possible reasons, or that they don't reall know what's happening
themselves either.

We hafta remember that they provide it all for free to us too - so what do
you expect? ;P As they say, there's no such thing as a free lunch y'know...

Heck - personally, I'd prefer yahoo over microsoft any day - and look how
they treat paying customers...

Illegal material - technically yes there was, seeing the characters within
were trademarked.

I think that the main problem there for furs would be *how* to pay -
remember, not everyone has or wants to get a credit card at all or want to
give out their #, that sort of thing. In other words, not 'won't pay' but
'can't pay'.
