Hmmm. . . I haven't had any problems with Zone Alarm ( Using 3.0
version ) other than the Yahoo mail problem. I have a copy of Black
Ice ( job requires it to be active on my system when I use VPN to
connect to the corporate network ) but don't feel like fighting with
it's infinite configuration settings :)

I don't get hit with portscans all that often, but even when I do,
the NAT pretty much handles it. I have yet to see anything get
through it. Z.A.P. is pretty much in place to stop the outgoing
traffic, or to give me an idea where the programs are actually going.

For instance, even if you tell Windows Media Player not to check for
upgrades, it tries to get out every time I boot up. Eudora Pro (
paid edition ) sneaks off to a web server somewhere either looking
for updates or who knows what. ICQ tries to hit a webserver, all of
my Adobe products ( Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator )
try to connect to the Adobe servers any time they are started. ( Even
with the web connect disabled ). Z.A.P. is also not too bad at
stopping the $*%&&$ programs that show up via ActiveX through your
web browser and try to connect back to a server on the net.

It's not perfect, but it pretty much does what I want it to, with
minimum hassle. So I use it. :)

Getting off that topic a bit, since Des's group went to the big skin
flick in the sky, does anyone here have or know of a model sheet for
Des's avatar? ( The fem chameleon of course ) My current project is
to attempt to model a 3D version of the character, but I need some
source material to work with. As I just added Softimage XSI to my
arsenal of 3D apps, I thought I would try my hand at the character as
my first model within the package. I had fired off emails to Jim and
Des both about paying them for custom made model sheets, but have
never heard anything back from either of them. *sigh* I suppose
with Des at school and Jim trying to get his bike together, it eats
up most of their spare time. . . :(
