I can vouch this is a good book. Been reading it recently
(took a while to order in to Oz, but worth the wait).

I show stuff to people that I think can appreciate the
effort and can offer some form of useful feedback even if
they politely say 'this sucks'. If I don't think they will
have anything useful to say and be negative about it, then
I just don't show them.
I have a few drawings that I like but know are not much
good (okay, pretty crap) and I just keep them to myself and
can use the aspects I like from these for reference in
future drawings. But I've still a LONG way to go.
