It works to an extent, but doeesn't spread very far as you
mentioned, so it can only really kill off a small area. As
you may have noticed, there is almost as much of Australia
as there is of the USA, so a small kill of was neglible
help.

Or when they introduced the Cane Toad to Oz to control the
Sugar Cane Beetle. Gues what decided it preferred to eat
the native wild life (small birds, lizards, etc etc) that
is now reaching almost plague proportions. And it isn't
the beetle...
