So I was thinking..why is it that Jim's art is so
popular, fun, and sexy?
And I thought to my self there are a few reasons I
like his art over many others..and why I aspire to
work on my own art style in the same direction. I'll
list a few things here, and maybe ya'all would like to
say what you enjoy too:
First and foremost: I really like the detail he puts
in to it. Not just on anatomy (done correctly, and
realistically) but also the fur. Yes, that sounds
silly, almost, but being furry art, and furotica or
what-have-you. He does an amazing job with this, more
so than anyone else out there (with the only
comparable exception being Dark Natasha..she even did
Val once..yes I own that... along with all of Jim's
Val prints).
But on with this same thread. If you look at the work,
it is good definition. Not just "spiky bits of fur"
but actually drawn out. For example: Page 16 of
Student Drivers. Check out the detail of Val's fur on
her chin as she..takes care of Chad (top panel). Or,
additionally, the cover of "The G Spot" portfolio/set.
Honestly, it’s this fur detail that just makes me go
all (CENSORED). hehe
Secondly: The form, and proportion of each character
is well done. No mega-boobs, no out of line
appearance.
Third: And again, these are in no particular order:
The expressions. They range from joy, innocence, and
anger, but you can see it well reflected. Not just a
standard "smile" but emotion.
Anywho, that's a quick run down. I love the content
and all, tho I usually prefer a bit tamer on the 'X'
level of it, still enjoy the art.
So hats off to ya, Jim. You're an inspiration, and
keep it up (when you can). Good luck with the eye.
