Viewing this and a few other posts was about all I got done
last night after having an emergency call out to go and
restart some servers... *grumbles* Only just got home and
had to head into work again - just typical! Anyway, about
the pic...
Nice pencil work, for sure Jim. Veronika's fur actually
looks soft and fluffy. Reading an article recently that
said the 'fit figured female' is coming into vogue. Not
just slim and curvy, but lightly muscular as well. We've
known that is a good look for ages, haven't we Jim?
Veronika and Des being two that immediately spring to mind.
:-) I can see no problem with dating a girl who has a
performance standard that means you have to lift your game
to keep up. Always up for a challenge. :-)
Got to love JMH style claws. Slim, and powerful. If furs
want to know how to draw claws and make them look good,
take not, this fellow's got the technique mastered. :-)
Focal depths are good too - notice how further away
features such as around the ears and face are softer, yet
closer features such as her hands are sharp? This is a
problem MANY artists have. One of the big differences
between toon style and realism is the application of focal
variation (sharp up close, softer further away) that can be
indicated by line boldness (or fineness) and contrast. You
may notice that many amatuer artists' pics look very
'flat'; limbs and body etc all appear flat and in one
plane. This is due to lack of focal variance. Even JMH's
toony pics still have line variation to give depth, but his
'realistic' stuff has much more graduation and variance.
Easy to see, easy to say, not as easy to do!
I seem to remember you saying at one stage about another
pic you posted that "this is the only full nude picture of
Veronika I will ever do". Or because her legs are out of
picture it doesn't count as full nude? She could be wearing
shoes? Not complaining mind, just being picky.
Incidentally this version of the pic has far finer detail
(and I'm not talking about her feminine features) than the
previous pic. Just shows that even for great artists like
JMH, the more you do, the better you can get.
