Weeeell... Christkind's by far not as relevant as the Weihnachtsmann
(= US Santa Claus, Weihnachtsmann meaning "Christmas Man"). The idea
of a fat-ass wearing red and white became the absolute incarnation of
christmas, even if this "Santa Claus" (in German: Sankt Nikolaus)
originally had nothing to do with december 24th, which is supposed to
be (as y'all know) Jesus Christ's birthday. As far as I know Sankt
Nikolaus had no regular schedule and gave his gifts away somewhen
during december, but december 6th has been chosen to be his anniversary.
Let's recall:
Santa Claus (US Version) = Weihnachtsmann (modern German)
Santa Claus (US Version) <> Sankt Nikolaus (traditional German)
Sankt Nikolaus = real
Santa Claus <> real.
The Christkind, by the way, is obsolete. Fat guys drinking Coke rule.
Too sad.
Class dismissed. ;-)
