Be warned, however, that if your PC is sensative to voltage dips, a UPS can cause PERMANENT PHYSICAL DAMAGE. Check the speed of switch-over on the UPS!
Not all UPSs are made equal!
Whenever the power goes out, the UPS 'switches' from wall power to battery backup. This takes a few nanoseconds. If your system devices cannot function during a drop or outage that long, they can be damaged. Namely harddrives can get stuck parked, and require a hard-reset or, in the case of some older drives, manual physical reset of the read/write head. Either case can cause data corruption.
As well, check the min/max voltage peaks on the UPS. If the switch causes a surge too high, it can fry sensative parts, especially the CPU (which can fail from just a 0.05v overvolt!)

Athlon64's are especially picky, as are P4ee systems. Some motherboards also hate it, such as the A7N8X line (and most nForce chipsets, for that matter), and some Intel chipsets.
Most durable are Via and SiS chipsets. For as moderately as they perform, they take incredible abuse.

I'll toss in my two cents worth of advice too. G. Buy a battery back-up for
your computer. When the lights go out, your computer and monitor will still
be running long enough for you to save your work and shut everything down
safely. Trust me. The very first time that the lights go out while you have
three hours worth of unsaved art on your screen, you will feel a thrill of
elation and you will cheerfully say to yourself, "Hey! I still have 15 to
20 minutes to save my work and turn off my computer." G. That's such a good
feeling to have that it's worth the price of a battery back-up. Most
  computer stores carry them too.
